For this special edition of Hennessy V.S, Shepard Fairey drew his inspiration from the exceptional history of the House of Hennessy. To create a medium as unique and emblematic as the Hennessy Very Special bottle, Shepard Fairey was given exclusive access to the Hennessy archives in Cognac.
Shepard Fairey explains his approach to designing Hennessy Very Special: "My design for this limited edition draws its inspiration from the singular history of the House of Hennessy. For me, Hennessy has always been a symbol of quality, authenticity, tradition and elegance. The artist also wanted to exploit every surface of the bottle in his design: "I wanted to establish an intimate connection with each owner of this limited edition. Every aspect has been meticulously rethought and reimagined: the label, the neck, the macaron." The star at the centre of the bottle symbolises both Shepard Fairey's eternal quest for artistic perfection and the mantra he offers Hennessy Very Special lovers: "Always remain open to beauty, passion and challenge, keeping the eyes, mind and palate receptive."

Shepard Fairey describes himself as "artist, activist, graphic designer and DJ". Over the past two decades, he has created some of the most singular and polarising work in the contemporary art world. Born in South Carolina and raised between California and the East Coast of the United States, he proudly claims his artistic roots in urban culture, influenced by skateboarding, hip-hop and punk rock.
His beginnings in billboard advertising with the "Andre The Giant Has A Posse" campaign in the 90s were as much a social statement as a parody. What began as a quirky commentary on his surroundings turned into a global phenomenon.
As a graphic designer, Shepard Fairey has created logos and visuals that have become emblematic in sport, the media, entertainment and politics. His pervasive activism has transcended popular culture, making him a fixture on the global cultural landscape.
