Hennessy Cognac Private is a special edition that first appeared at Singapore Changi Airport in 2009.
In 1920, James Hennessy, a man of power and taste with a strong influence on French social and political life, created a “very private” Cognac to honor his friends among the social elite of the time. He requested his Master Blender, Alfred Fillioux, to create a Cognac that would be both structured and elegant, reflecting the values of Art Deco. Nearly a century later, Maison Hennessy revived this tradition. Alfred Fillioux's descendant, Yann Fillioux, thus composed this tribute to the private expression enjoyed by James Hennessy and his contemporaries. To create this Privé edition, Yann selected remarkable old eaux-de-vie aged in young oak casks, creating a robust character with remarkable depth.
Specializing in distilling their eaux-de-vie without the lees for a smooth, clean palate, Hennessy also knows how to utilize humid cellars for steady maturation. As the largest Cognac house in the world, we can trust that Hennessy knows exactly how to make each eau-de-vie work in tandem to create the ultimate sensory experience.
Hennessy Privé Cognac comes in a heavy, wide decanter with a reflective black stopper and gold details. It is accompanied by a stunning black Art Deco-inspired gift box with a texture reminiscent of crocodile leather.
Eye: Polished copper with amber reflections.
Nose: The perfect example of balance. Characteristic suggestions of damp undergrowth, coupled with elegant touches of ripened fruits.
Palate: Round and refined. Fresh mint, as well as preserved fruits, create a velvety structure pleasingly lifted by flavors reminiscent of praline.
