The Carrere distillery, founded in 1887 in Fleurance, was run by five generations of the Carrere family, whose expertise originated in the Ariège region.
Barthélemy Carrere, a traveling distiller, started the business, which expanded significantly in the 1950s, employing over 20 people. Jean-Pierre Carrère, the last family member in charge, upheld the distillery's reputation for high-quality Armagnacs. In 2008, the business ceased, and the stocks and expertise were transferred to the Cavé house in Lannepax.
