To commemorate the centenary of the foundation of Monnet Cognac shippers, a bottle of Cognac Monnet Anniversary, fine champagne, has been specially produced and selected for its exceptional quality of cognac.

The Monnet brand began as the Société des Propriétaires Vinicoles de Cognac in 1838, when several independent winegrowers teamed up under the guidance of Pierre-Antoine de Salignac. At the end of the 19th century, disagreements between Louis de Salignac and Jean Gabriel Monnet led to Salignac's departure in 1897. Monnet became general manager and renamed the company J.G. Monnet after acquiring the majority of shares. The salamander logo, emblem of François I, was chosen by Monnet. In the 1950s, Monnet became the official supplier to the Court of Sweden. In 1962, Jean Monnet, son of Jean Gabriel and a political figure of the European Union, sold the company to Scharlachberg. After several changes of ownership, Monnet was acquired by the Nicolas family in 2013.
